Research

My research focuses on dispersive effects for a plasma model: hot plasma where collisions are negligible and electrons, ions, and other particles become indistinguishable. Plasma particles possess natural rest states – steady states in which they remain forever if unperturbed.

When disturbed slightly, the plasma experiences turbulence, and we study the return to equilibrium over long times. This return is known to physicists as Landau damping. Our model investigates Landau damping toward a magnetized plasma at rest equilibrium, a scenario largely left open in the physics literature. In addition to analytical theory, our research incorporates numerical analysis to explore this return to equilibrium.
